Wondering what else you can do?
Wondering what else
you can do?
This bulge in the tummy area, called a diastasis recti, is caused by a separation of the abdominal muscles, which commonly happens with pregnancy. This happens because the linea alba, a connective tissue that runs down the midline of the abdominal muscles, gets stretched and thinned out to accommodate a growing belly. Having a diastasis recti puts you at risk for pelvic floor problems like leaks and low back pain.
Everyone wants to look and feel their best. Traditional exercises that you may have done before can actually put strain on your tummy and make your diastasis recti worse, eliminating any chance of a recovery.
In this physiotherapist-designed program, I provide specific exercises with cueing and proper progression to ensure you safely rehab your diastasis recti and regain core strength.
For some women their diastasis recti recovers without any specific treatments, but for about 60% of women, they will still have this separation 6 months postpartum. If this is you, then you will benefit from an assessment to determine the extent of your diastasis recti and a personalized treatment plan that will safely train your core muscles and help you lose the "pooch".
The good news is, it’s never too late to improve your core function, eliminate the bulge in your tummy, and return to the activities you love, no matter how long it has been since you gave birth.
